The Ultimate Summer of Community Events We’re Grateful For
What a summer it’s been. From shared meals in the park to afternoons splashing at the pool, our summer community events brought neighbors together across the region – and NDTC is grateful for every single person who joined us!
We hosted two kinds of gatherings this season: community picnics in June and free pool parties throughout July. Both had one thing in common: they gave us a chance to step away from our desks, meet the people we serve, and simply enjoy time together. Here’s a look back at the fun!
Community Picnics: Good Food and Great Company
Nothing brings people together like a free meal and a friendly conversation! Our June community picnics did exactly that. We set up in three welcoming spots – Rugby on June 23 at Merchants Bank Park, New Rockford on June 25 at Centennial Park, and Cando on June 30 right on Main Street – served up food on us, and enjoyed laid-back afternoons with families, friends, and neighbors of all ages.
From happy faces gathered around picnic tables to warm conversations shared between neighbors, each stop reminded us of what makes our communities so special. Thank you to everyone who came out, grabbed a plate, and spent a little time with us!
Free Pool Parties: Staying Cool All July Long
When the July heat rolled in, we had the perfect way to cool off. NDTC sponsored free general admission at public pools across our service area, so families could enjoy a fun day in the water on us. Each event also featured a prize drawing plus free drinks and a snack.
Six towns, six chances to splash, relax, and connect. Here’s where we made a splash:

- Harvey
- Devils Lake
- New Rockford
From kids racing down jump in the water to parents catching up poolside, these community events were exactly the kind of summer fun we love to be part of!
More Community Celebrations We Were Proud to Be Part Of
Beyond the picnics and pool parties, NDTC was thrilled to show up at several other community milestones this summer. On July 31, we joined the fun at Harvey Crazy Days – which this year expanded to include a tradeshow, making it bigger and better than ever. We were also honored to take part in the Maddock 125th Anniversary parade, celebrated alongside the 17th annual Rural Renaissance Festival – a truly special occasion for a community marking such a proud milestone. And in Devils Lake, Crazy Days took on an extra layer of community spirit by combining with the annual National Night Out in downtown Devils Lake.
There was wonderful turnout at every single one of these events, and we were so excited to be even a small part of each celebration. That’s what this summer was really about – showing up, cheering on the communities we serve, and being grateful for every opportunity to do so!
Why These Community Events Matter to Us
At NDTC, community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to provide reliable internet, TV, camera, and phone services – but our purpose goes beyond that. We want the places we call home to stay strong, vibrant, and connected.
Events like these are one of the ways we give back to the neighbors who support us. They remind us why we do what we do. Every shared meal, every poolside laugh, and every friendly ‘hello’ builds the kind of community we’re all lucky to be part of.
